Our story
We are Brian, Marty, and Eli Castner, and we're starting our third year of family farming in the rolling hills of Washington County. Marty is the full time chicken-herder, sheep-tender, cider-presser, and hay-stacker. Eli is still in school but runs socials and does summer chores. Brian is a military veteran and writer who has traveled the world but is now happy to be fixed in one amazing spot in the valley.
We are a small farm focused on regenerative sustainable agriculture. Our goal is to grow rich soil and healthy pastures while also providing healthy and tasty food for our community. We raise grass-fed poultry and lamb, are planting a seven acre orchard, and our farmstay bed & breakfast will open again soon for the 2026 season.
How do say that again?
It’s easy - just try “da True!” Our "da True" ancestors came to the Hudson Valley in 1624, and du Trieux’s settled from New Amsterdam (as New York City was known at the time) to Schenectady, the Mohawk Valley, and all the way up to where we live today, in the foothills of the Adirondacks and Green Mountains. We're proud to come back to the land and pick up where they left off, starting a new family farm four hundred years later.
